Indian shooter Gagan Narang, who won a bronze medal in Olympics 2012 in the 10m air rifle event, turned 36 on Monday. Narang has been one of India’s most consistent shooters.
He has been conferred with the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2011. Before receiving the highest sporting honour of the country, he was nominated thrice but had to be disheartened as he wasn’t considered.
Some of Narang’s accomplishments include four gold medals each, in the Commonwealth Games editions 2006 and 2010. In 2014, he won a silver and a bronze in the same event. Apart from these wins, Narang has several medals from ISSF World Championships and Asian Games. The Chennai born was India’s flag bearer in the opening ceremony of Asian Games 2010.
