On Friday, Indian wrestler Mansi Ahlawat suffered a routing defeat in the finals against Japan’s Akie Hanaiof in the 57kg category at the ongoing Junior Asian Wrestling Championships.
The Rohtak-based wrestler lost by technical superiority 10-0, had blanked out after the defeat and had no words to express herself.
This was her maiden international competition in the junior category after winning gold in the national championships in February.
“I never thought I would lose 10-0. My father and Mandeep are travelling with me and I wanted to win the gold medal. I had never wrestled the Japanese wrestler before. This was not the way it should have ended,” Mansi says, holding back her tears.
