Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who played a crucial partnership with Jos Buttler in yesterday’s match against Mumbai Indians, has been fined INR 12 lakh for upholding a slow over-rate during their bowling at the Wankhede stadium, on Sunday (May 13).
"As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rahane was fined INR 12 lakh," an IPL press release said.
In a decisive match, sharp bowling by Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes followed by Jos Buttler's 53-ball unbeaten 94 helped RR to overcome MI by seven wickets.
With this win, Royals have brightened their chances of qualifying for the play-offs. They have two games left to play and both of them will be played at their home ground in Jaipur.
Last month, Virat Kohli, captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, was also got fined with INR 12 lakh after his side did not bowl their overs within the stipulated time against Chennai Super Kings at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
