Indian archers Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das got engaged and are slated to tie the knot in the next calendar year. The couple exchanged rings in an engagement ceremony as Deepika, wearing a cream and green coloured 'lehenga-chunhi', performed a traditional puja with Atanu at her residence in Ratu-Chatti.
Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda and his wife Mira Munda also graced their presence in the ring-ceremony. Deepika, who has lagged behind professionally to slip to the fifth spot in rankings, said they got engaged this year as the following year is slated to be busy for both sportsperson.
The 24-year old former world number one, Deepika, has claimed three silver medals and one bronze in World Cup Finals. However, she failed to replicate the same at the Olympics.
Atanu has also followed suit from his better half. He has been out of form recently, returning empty-handed from the Asian Games in Indonesia earlier in 2018. He is currently languishing at the 17th spot. He remains a regular in the men's recurve team.
We, at SportsFlashes, wish the star couple for their personal life development and hope that their togetherness gives a positive reflection on their professional life as well.
2018 has proved to be lucky for Indian athletes. Just like Deepika and Atanu, Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap also announced their wedding and are slated to get hitched this December. It speaks volumes as it isn't easy to maintain a relationship where both involved are in a stressful field like sports in India. To juggle between personal and professional life isn't an easy task but such couples have proved this myth as wrong for the time being.
