Indian pair Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy made an early exit from the mixed doubles event at the China Open. Malaysia's Goh Liu Ying and Chan Peng Soon defeated the Indian pair in a three-set contest, defeating them in the second round in Fuzhou, China.
In the match between the Indian pair and the Malaysian pair, Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwik Sai Reddy got the better of the first set by beating Malaysia's Goh Liu Ying and Chan Peng Soon 21-18.
But in the second and third set, the Malaysian pair made a strong comeback in the match. The Malaysian pair reached the pre-quarter-finals by defeating the Indian pair 21-19 in the second set, and 21-17 in the third set.
Kidambi Srikanth reaches pre-quarter stage
Meanwhile, Indian star shuttler Kidambi Srikanth cemented his place in the second round of the Men's Singles. Srikanth won the match in straight sets against Lucas Corvee of France.
In the match between Kidambi Srikkanth and Lucas Corvee, star shuttler Srikant defeated Lukas Kaurvi 21-12, 21-16 in 34 minutes. With this win, Srikanth moved into the pre-quarter stage of the tournament.
