Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has been a failure in this year’s Asia Cup. Whether it was with the bat or with his leadership skills, Sarfraz failed to impress. Due to which, his team suffered a 37-run defeat to Bangladesh in the last Super Four clash of this year’s Asia Cup.
He was gutted after his team’s defeat. His men were under fire to start with, having suffered back-to-back losses against their arch-rivals India in the tournament.
“We are obviously not feeling good. As a team, we have not done well. Our performance has been very poor. As a player, I have done really badly too. I should have done better. We were poor in every facet of the game,” Sarfraz said.
Opener Fakhar Zaman has been an utter disappointment in the whole tournament. He failed to live up the to the expectations and did not give a strong start to the Men in Green in any of the matches that the team played in the whole series.
“There was a lot of batting collapses for us in the tournament. Fakhar is our main batsman, he failed to perform in this tournament and Shadab was hit by injury too. We have to play well to beat good teams. Our batting was the main reason for our defeat in this tournament. Shaheen Afridi is a talented youngster, we have given him opportunities to showcase his talent and he has done well too.”
People have been bashing Sarfraz for his leadership skills and want the captain to be sacked. The defeat against Bangladesh has only intensified the revolt. They would surely feel the heat once they return home.
