Pirelli has released the full list of the tyres the teams have opted for the 2018 Formula 1 season-opener, the Australian Grand Prix during the March 23-25 weekend. The purple-coloured ultrasoft tyres seems to be the go-to choice for the teams.
Among the front-running outfits, both the Mercedes drivers have a different choice with nine ultrasoft sets being the same between two, but Lewis Hamilton has one set of soft and two sets of supersoft to Valtteri Bottas' opting for two sets of soft and supersoft each.
At the same time, Ferrari duo Sebastien Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen have similar choices with seven sets of ultrasoft and three sets of supersoft and soft each. The Red Bull Racing duo Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen also have a similar number of choices.
They have gone for eight sets of ultrasoft with three sets of supersoft and two sets of soft each. Elsewhere, the team with the maximum number of ultrasoft sets as Mercedes are McLaren and Williams respectively.
While McLaren's Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne have opted for two sets of supersoft and soft each along with the nine sets of ultrasoft, Williams' Lance Stroll has gone for two sets of supersoft and soft with Sergey Sirotkin going for three sets of supersoft and one of soft.
Along with Ferrari, Renault is the other team with the least number of ultrasoft tyres at seven. Interestingly, both Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz have opted for four sets of supersoft - the most - and two sets of soft each.
