India’s ace wrestler Bajrang Punia is on the verge of adding yet another feather to his cap after he made it to the finals of the ongoing Dan Kolov Nikola Petrov Ranking series tournament in Ruse, Bulgaria.
Bajrang who was making his debut at the Ranking series made short work of his opponents on his way to reach the finals.
He first outclassed Iulian Gergenov of Russia in the pre-quarters with an impressive 13-6 scoreline where he dominated his opponent from the outset.
Then in a closely fought quarterfinal bout, Bajrang got better of another Russian opponent Eduard Grigorev with a 2-0 win.
In the semis, he was up against Niurhin Skarbin of Belarus who proved to be a tough nut to crack as the Indian scraped past him in a thrilling encounter with an 8-6 win on points.
Sandeep settles for Silver
Sandeep Tomar, who took to the mat for the Gold medal in the 61 kg freestyle category, was beaten all ends up by his Kazakh opponent Nurislam Sanayev with a technical superiority of 10-0. The Kazakh took just 1 minute and 25 seconds to pouch the gold medal match
