Barcelona legend Carles Puyolasked his former team not to be careless while dealing with Lyon in the second leg of the Champions League last 16 at the Camp Nou Stadium on Wednesday.
Thesetwo teams drew 0-0 in the first leg at home to Lyon in February. Although Barca are more on the positive note to progress, Puyol believes the Blaugrana players must stay focused.
"When playing in the Champions League, we must continue to focus. Because if we make just one mistake, we can be eliminated," Puyol said
The 40-year-old man also remains optimistic that Barcelona is one of the strongest candidates to win the 2018-19 Champions League title.
However, to become a champion, the former Spanish defender feels Barcelona have to improve several aspects of the game, especially physical problems.
"To be the winner of this season, what must be improved is the physicality of the team or the players because they look very tired,"
"It might be because there are too many games running from January," Puyol added.
For Barca, Puyol said, coach Ernesto Valverde have done his job well. So far, Barca still have a chance to end the season by winning three trophies.
In the Spanish League, Barca still lead the standings with seven points from the second placed team, Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, in the Copa del Rey, Barca will appear in the final against Valencia on 25 May.
"Barcelona have many opportunities to win titles this season. We are seven points adrift of Atletico Madrid in LaLiga, in the Copa del Rey final. I am happy with the current state of Barcelona."
Carles Puyol spent his entire career with his local childhood team Barcelona. He is considered as one of the best defenders and leaders of his generation. He was referred to as the ‘wall’ by his teammates due to his unique gameplay.
