If the last two weeks were crucial for Manchester United in cementing their place at the 2nd place in the Premier League, the match between Sevilla is really a season-defining game which could unravel the good work Jose Mourinho has done so far this season if something unexpected happens at Old Trafford.
After winning four times in the last five games, Red Devils have all the momentum to finish the job. Also, based on their performances against Chelsea and Crystal Palace, it looks a certainty that the three-time champions would be in the quarterfinals.
At home, United are even more daunting. They have lost just one game at Old Trafford all season, a 1-3 defeat against the noisy-neighbors Manchester City. In the Champions League, the three-time Champions have won all the home matches, making it an uphill task for the visitors.
Sevilla, on the other hand, are going in the other direction in the past few weeks as far as results are concerned. The chastening defeats against their direct rivals for the Champions League place in the La Liga has left the five-time Europa Champions reeling at 5th and some 11 points adrift of the 4th placed Valencia.
That's why Sevilla faithful still have some doubts about Vincenzo Montella's credentials and whether he is an upgrade to the sacked manager Eduardo Berizzo.
