In the ongoing China Open, Attri Manu and Sumeeth B Reddy added to India's woes. Facing Denmark duo Kim Astrup and Anders Shaarup Rasmussen, the Indian pair lost in straight games; 21-16, 27-25. By virtue of this result, Manu-Sumeeth now trail Astrup-Rasmussen 0-3 in head-to-head tally.
The first game showed Manu-Sumeeth's tentative start. The duo were slow to take off and paid the price with a 6-10 scoreline at halfway mark of the opening game. Their rusty approach conceded the first game to Astrup-Rasmussen with quite some distance. While the second game was a much-competitve affair, Manu-Sumeeth failed to stretch the match further.
The penultimate game saw a fightback from Manu-Sumeeth. They fought hard and gave a run for the money to the Denmark pair. As a result, the game was pushed beyond 21 points. Nonetheless, Astrup and Rasmussen held their nerves and edged past the opposition to wrap up the contest altogether.
In match statistics, the Indian pair trailled 4-7 in most consecutive points won. Manu-Sumeeth were, however, 8-7 ahead in game points won. In 89 total points played, Manu-Sumeeth were behind by 41-48 margin.
