Premier League top-tier club Manchester City who are currently leading the 2017/18 season with 43 points are in great form but their manager Pep Guardiola still feels that their present form is not going to guarantee them success at the end of the season.
Guardiola’s distress is absolutely valid as in the last season also they were in the splendid form throughout the tournament but came at the third position after the end of 2016/17 season.
“We are playing well but it does not mean we will go on to win the competition. We will try to be there (in the final),” said City’s manager, Guardiola, who failed to win a trophy with City in his first season.
Manchester City is going to play the next match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night which is their final Champions League group stage fixture.
The team will be playing the match without midfielder David Silva who got injured in the last match against West Ham United, whereas Kevin De Bruyne is attending a one-match suspension in Europe.
“Our team is playing some of the best football in Europe but we want to play against the best teams to see where we are. We are full of confidence. The way we control games is fantastic,” added Guardiola.
They are also set to play the Manchester Derby on Sunday.
