JuventusstarCristiano Ronaldo could miss the first leg of the 2018-2019 Champions League quarterfinals.
The player's gesture when celebrating can lead to a punishment. Ronaldo became a Juventus hero when they eliminated Atletico Madridfrom the last 16 of the Champions League.
He scored a hat-trick to present Juventus a 3-0 win and qualify for the quarter-finals of the most prestigious European club competition.
Even though before the match at the Allianz Stadium on Tuesday, Juventus were in a critical position because they lost 0-2 in the first leg in Madrid.
But Ronaldo was able to pull the team outfrom the problem. But,unfortunately, Ronaldo did something strange after making sure Atletico was eliminated.
But his celebration was considered to provoke the opposing camp. Italian outlet Gazetta dello Sport reported that UEFA was immediately investigating Ronaldo's post-match gestures.
After the match, the Portuguese superstar celebrated by swinging his hands from top to bottom towards the groin.
The celebration that Ronaldo showed was almost similar to that of Atletico coach Diego Simeone 'cojones', when his team won against Juve in the first leg.
It was like the 34-year-old player mocked Simeone's action, which the coach made two weeks ago.
But not only that, Ronaldo's controversial celebration was also allegedly aimed at Atletico Madrid fans who were present at the Allianz Stadium because Ronaldo did it in front of thousands of Spanish capital club fans.
Spanish media, Mundo Deportivo, even reported that Ronaldo provoked Atletico fans after scoring the third goal calling "Hijos de Puta". In English, the statement is very harsh because it means "son of a whore".
If it is proven, that he provoked opponents supporters, Ronaldo would get a ban of one match. That means, he will be absent from the the first leg of the quarterfinals.
Juventus are waiting for their potential opponents in the quarters. They will find out who their opponents are after the draw on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland.
