Indian weightlifter Pradeep Singh, who competed for the first time in Commonwealth Games, has grabbed a silver medal in the men’s 105kg weightlifting at the ongoing edition of Games in Gold Coast, Australia on Monday.
It was a golden opportunity for the 23-year-old Pradeep to finish at the top of the podium but he missed out by a little margin against the gold medalist Sanele Mao of Samoa who lifted a total of 360kg (154kg in snatch +206kg in clean & jerk).
While Pradeep lifted a total of 352kg to seal the second spot where he lifted 152kg in snatch and 200kg in clean & jerk.
“I have lifted a personal best of 215kg in the past but may be it wasn’t my day,” said the Games debutant, who was happy with a podium finish but a shade disappointed with the colour of his medal.
