Chelsea registered their third consecutive Premier League win, as they beat West Ham United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, and climb above Tottenham and Arsenal into third spot.
Maurizio Sarri's side started the game slowly, unable to breakdown the West Ham defense and finding it difficult to find space to exploit in the opening 15 minutes.
In the 24th minute, Chelsea opened the scoring, thanks to a delightful solo goal from Eden Hazard.
The Chelsea number 10 took the ball in the central midfield, and went on a solo run past the West Ham defenders, taking out four players in the process, and neatly slotting the ball past Lukasz Fabianski to put Sarri's side 1-0 up.
Gonzalo Higuain hit the post from a tight angle shortly after, and West Ham was fortunate not to concede a penalty when Marko Arnautovic bowled over Hazard with a shoulder challenge.
West Ham had a string of good chances to equalise in the second half, with Aaron Cresswell and Manuel Lanzini both coming close.
Chelsea also had good opportunities to double their lead, though Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi were unable to convert.
However, Hazard sealed the Blues' third consecutive league win in the 90th minute when he controlled Ross Barkley's pass and lashed a low effort past Fabianski.
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, said, "In the first half, we were in full control of the match and I was not happy with the result at the end of the half, we could have scored more.
"In the second half, we were in trouble for only 10 minutes but then in the last part of the match we were in control and we deserved to score the second goal.
"In the previous match, Eden Hazard has played really well too. He was devastating. When Hazard can play like this, we are lucky."
Chelsea will continue their Europa League campaign in Thursday's quarter-final first leg, as they travel to the Czech Republic to face Slavia Prague. The Blues then face a trip to Anfield, as they meetLiverpool in the league on Sunday.
