The Asia Cup is just around the corner and if there is one match everyone is thrilled about is the epic encounter between India and their arch-rivals Pakistan. The tournament has largely become about these two teams. Not just because they are the prominent contenders for the cup but also because this will be their first face-off since last year’s Champions Trophy.
The kind of rivalry they share on the field always drives the players to produce their best. Ahead of their encounter at the mega sporting event, young Pakistani bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has said that it is a dream of every Pakistani player to play against India and perform well for the team.
“We are working really hard to try and adapt to local conditions. Every player on the team dreams of playing against India and performing well, I hope I can also get this chance,” he said.
The 24-year-old cricketer also admitted that even without Virat Kohli, India is a world-class team and we are not taking them lightly.
Ashraf shared, “India even without Virat Kohli is a world-class team and we cannot take them lightly. We are putting in our hundred percent, in all departments be it batting, bowling or fielding. Our job is to give our best and then we have every chance of winning.”
If selected, Ashraf will be playing his first ODI match against the men in blue. Before playing India on September 19, Pakistan will face Hong Kong in their opening match in the 14th edition of Asia Cup.
