Punam Yadav, who bagged gold medal for the country in women’s weightlifting on Sunday, talked about her preparations, her journey from the beginning in an exclusive interview with SportsFlashes.
Punam, who advanced to 69kg category this year, lifted a total of 222kg (110kg in snatch and 122kg in clean & jerk) for the gold medal.
Following Punam, England’s Sarah Davies had to settle with silver after failing to lift 128kg in her final clean and jerk attempt, while the bronze medal was won by Fiji’s Apolonia Vaivai with an effort of 216kg (100kg+116kg).
Earlier at the last edition of Commonwealth Games which took place in Glasgow, Punam settled with bronze medal in 63kg category.
