Fernando Alonso retired from Formula 1 last season but is in the thick of the news again. It has been reported that Alonso could be testing for McLaren in the winter tests in Barcelona.
According to Spanish sports newspaper, Marca, Alonso could appear behind the wheel in McLaren's winter testing.
Fernando Alonso has already made the most of opportunities to race in different cars and last weekend the Spaniard won the Daytona 24 and will be hoping to continue this form into the Indy 500 where he will look to complete the Triple Crown
The Spaniard has retired from F1, but McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has said the two-time champion is welcome to attend Grand Prix in McLaren colors and even test the car on occasion.
Zak Brown has made it clear that although Alonso would be a great asset to have at the team, the two drivers that they have for 2019 are more than competent.
"Obviously Fernando's an immense talent with a tremendous amount of experience," he said. "Of course we'll miss him in the garage but we have two outstanding talents."
Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris are the two drivers tasked with bringing McLaren back to the top of Formula 1, and they will hope that the testing in Barcelona is the start to this.
