The battle of table toppers and basement was very much evident when Gujarat Fortune Giants beat Jaipur Pink Panthers 34-29 in the Panchkula leg of the Pro Kabaddi League season 6.
The Fortune Giants continues their winning streak and scored their 4th successive win. The match started with a cautious approach from both the teams and saw only 7 points in the first 6 minutes. But it all changed when Gujarat inflicted 1st All Out of the game on the Pink Panthers with the score at 10-3. The Fortune Giants continued with their onslaught and made it 17-7 with 5 minutes still left in the first half. The Gujarat based team slowed down the proceedings and didn’t err to close the half at 18-10 with a comfortable lead.
The opening few minutes of the second half saw the Jaipur based team catch up with the Gujaratis at 14-19 but just when it looked that the comeback is on offing, the Fortune giants struck back and made it 23-14. The Pink Panthers did make a comeback at the far end but it proved to be too little too late and the Gujarat Fortune Giants won the contest comfortably at 34-29.
The all-round display by the Gujrat Fortune Giants was pivotal to their success as Sachin Kumar scored 7 raid points while defender Rituraj Koravi scored 5 tackle points from just 6 attempts. The match takes the Fortune Giants to 83 points from 20 matches, just 2 points below the U Mumba, with one more game to play.
