Rafael Nadal defeated Dominic Thiem 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 to be crowned the men’s singles French Open champion. It was a repeat of last year’s final with a similar outcome. Nadal breezed past the 23-year-old Austrian to continue his domination at the Roland Garros.
This was the Spaniard’s 12th French Open title and his 18th Grand Slam title overall. Nadal is now within touching distance of Swiss great Roger Federer’s all-time Grand Slam titles record of 20.
