Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero lost a golden opportunity to score the first goal against Chelsea on Sunday. This turned out to make his coach, Pep Guardiola, issue a funny expression.
On Sunday, after receiving a cross from Bernardo Silva in the 14th minute, Aguero who was in front of the goal immediately grabbed the ball. Unfortunately, his shot narrowly stretched to the right of the Chelsea goal.
On the edge of the field, Guardiola gave a hilarious expression. He put his hand on his face and then threw himself on the ground and buried his face into the grass.
Fortunately, Guardiola got a chance to celebrate Aguero’s goal a few minutes later. In the match, the player managed to score three goals.
Before the half hour mark was in sight Ilkay Gundogan had added a fourth for the Premier League champions and Guardiola had rather forgotten about Aguero's miss you feel.
After the match, Guardiola revealed he congratulated the Argentine following his hat-trick against Chelsea, but urged the striker not to miss any more easy chances.
“I just said nice goal,” Guardiola said. ‘I think he is over Shearer’s record. “He said to me that he saw Kepa [Arrizabalaga] coming quick, that he wanted to be more precise. I just said don’t do it again.”
About the Argentine class, he added, “This is Aguero. Big players seem destined to shine in important matches. He has done it often.”
Aguero is now joint top scorer in the Premier League this season on 17 goals, alongside Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.
Guardiola agreed with the suggestion that this was one of the best team performances of his tenure at the Etihad stadium.
“If you analyse the performance today, after tough games against Arsenal and Everton, playing the way we play with the intensity and the desire to find the spaces to attack in the right moment, the players were outstanding,” he said.
