It might be a New year, new season but it was same dominance of Lewis Hamilton as he smashed the track record in Melbourne on his way to an 8th Australian Grand Prix pole position, and sixth on the trot during the qualification at Albert Park, Melbourne.
Hamilton pipped team-mate Valtteri Bottas by a tenth of a second on his final flying lap in Q3, as Mercedes dominated qualifying at the Australian GP.
Though Hamilton has had six straight poles in Australia, he has only won two of those races. It is worth notice that the difference in qualifying between Mercedes and Ferrari was exactly the same here in qualifying last year before Vettel won the race and dominated the start of the season.
