On this Monday, the head coach of Brazil, Tite, has selected those players who will come to the World Cup in Russia.
There are not many surprises. Neymar is well here even if he has not played since February because of an injury on his right foot. Tite said “we will be much stronger with Neymar, he is one of the top three players in the world. But for him to be at the top, he needs a strong team around him”.
Unfortunately, Neymar could not count on his teammate and friend Dani Alves. He has not been called because of an injury since the final of the Cup of France with the PSG against Les Herbiers and has been removed by the player of Manchester City Danilo.
The list is the following:
* Goalkeepers: Alisson, Ederson, Cassio.
* Defender: Danilo, Fagner, Marcelo, Filipe Luis, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Miranda, Pedro Geromel.
* Strikers: Douglas Costa, Neymar, Taison, Gabriel Jesus, Roberto Firmino.
So Tite will be able to count on his lighting strikers for the World Cup. Especially, the Reds’ Roberto Firmino and the Citizens’ Gabriel Jesus who both had incredible seasons.
Main absents are two players of two French teams: Luiz Gustavo who is playing with Olympique of Marseille and Fabinho who is playing with AS Monaco. Despite a good season for the first one, he did not succeeded to convince the head coach of the Brazil. Same for Fabinho who did not realize an excellent season.
"Brazil is one of the favorites for the game we presented, the strength of this team and the fast transitions. It's not about being humble or arrogant, just telling the truth" said Tite. Opponents are informed.
As a reminder, Brazil is in the group of Swiss, Costa Rica and Serbia. They will play those nations in the same order. Brazil vs. Swiss will be played on the 17th of June, Brazil vs. Costa Rica will be played on the 22th of June and Serbia vs. Brazil will be played on the 27th of June. But before the beginning of the World Cup, they will play against Croatia and Austria as friendly games.
