National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has recommended ace pistol shooter Heena Sidhu and trap shooter Ankur Mittal for country’s highest sporting honour, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.
Mittal, a former World No.1 in Double Trap shooting, won a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games 2018. The 27-year-old shooter has also won a gold and silver in the World Championships 2017.
One of the most consistent performers, Mittal has had a podium finish in most of the events that he has competed in off-late.
Sidhu, on the other hand, was the first Indian pistol shooter to attain the World No.1 ranking as per the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). She won silver in women's 10m air pistol and gold in women's 25m air pistol in the Commonwealth Games 2018.
Apart from these two, NRAI has recommended Anjum Moudgill, Shahzar Rizvi, and Om Prakash Mitharwal for the Arjuna Award.
