As yet another season of the Ranji Trophy comes close to an end, the names of 4 teams reaching the semi-finals have been finalized, where Kerala and Karnataka team had already made their place, while Vardhba has also managed to make it to semi final round after beating Uttrahkhand by and innings and 115 runs.
But the biggest and most talked about win was registered by the Saurashtra team in the QF round, who after being given a mammoth target of 372 runs to chase by Uttar Pradesh, somehow went on to face defeat after centuries from Harmeet Desai and India’s very own ‘Mr Dependable,’ Cheteshwar Pujara, who played a match winning knock of an unbeaten 136, which now makes Saurashta the record holders for the highest run chase in Ranji Trophy history.
The earlier record had been held by Assam who chased 371 against the service in the year 2008-2009.
Both semi-final matches of this season will be played from January 24, in which the first game will be held between Vidarbha and Kerala, while the second knockout match will be a contest between Saurashtra and Karnataka as all four times battle it out to make it to finals of the Ranji Trophy.
