Asian Games Gold medalist and World U-20 Gold medalist added another feather to her cap after she was appointed as UNICEF India’s Youth Ambassador.
Hima Das, who currently holds the Indian record of 50.79 seconds in the 400 m Women’s event, which she made in the Jakarta Asian Games 2018, will be working towards the integrated development of the young people and children. She will be working towards raising awareness about the rights and needs of children. She will help raise the voices of children and young people as active participants in decision making.
Das shot to fame after clinching a historic gold in the IAAF World U-20 Athletics Championship in Finland earlier this year. After which she had a golden run in the Asian Games also where she managed to win 1 Gold medal and 2 Silver medals. Ever since she is hogging the limelight and making headlines with her Arjuna award and deal with a top sports brand.
Hima Das is also known as the “Dhing Express”, owing to the name of her village in Nagaon district of Assam.
