Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova won the final of women’s singles in the Italian Open as she beat Britain’s Johanna Konta in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Fourth-seeded Pliskova, who registered her maiden title win, finished the match in one hour and 25 minutes. This is her second WTA title of the year as she won the Brisbane International earlier.
In the semis, Pliskova halted Maria Sakkari's dream run as she eliminated her from the tournament in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
