India had a good outing on the first day of the Japan Open. India’s star singles players PV Sindhu, K Srikanth and HS Pranoy moved into the second round of the tournament. However India’s mixed doubles pair of Satwik Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa bowed out of tournament. Sameer Verma too could not book his berth in round two.
Kidambi Srikanth registered easy win against Chinese opponent Huang Yuxiang. Match Result 21-13 and 21-15.
PV Sindhu fought hard to win the first round. She was utterly dominant from the word go and gave her opponent no room to fashion any sort of chance. Sindhu clinches the first game 21-17. But Takahashi gets the second game 21-7 and levels this match! In the decider game Sindhu beats her opponent 21-13.
Besides, HS Pranay clinched easy victory against Indonesian opponent Jonathan Christie. Match Result 21-18, 21-17.
Last but not the least, Sikki Reddy and Pranav Chopra pair beat USA opponent Mathew Fogarty and Isabel Zhong. Match Result 21-9, 21-6.
The Indian mixed doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa faced a loss against the Chinese combination of WANG Yilyu and HUANG Dongping in Japan on Tuesday. Match result 21-10, 21-19.
Sameer Verma faced a loss in the first round of Japan Open 2018. He was playing against Korean opponent Lee Dong Keun. Match result 18-21 and 8-21.In this match, Sameer fought hard, but in vain. Lee took the first game 21-18. In the second game this Indian shuttler battled back 22-20. But in the third game Sameer did not avoided his defeat. Lee swept away the game 21-8.
