IPL franchise Delhi Capitals have traded right-arm off-spinner Jayant Yadav to Mumbai Indias two days after the star-studded 2019 Indian Premier League auction.
The 28-year-old cricketer was part of the Delhi franchise since 2015, playing in just 10 IPL matches. The player has also represented the Indian team in four Test matches and one One-Day International with his last international appearance coming in February last year.
The co-owner of Mumbai Indian, Akash Ambani, expressed his happiness over the move and feels that the squad is now completed and ready to fight in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league.
He said, “We were delighted to bring in Quinton de Kock in the pre-auction transfer window. His multi-tasking abilities and recent exploits with the bat including player of the tournament performance at the recently concluded Mzansi Super League in South Africa has been a delight to watch and I am sure he will carry the current form into the IPL season as well.”
He also expressed his views on Jayant’s inclusion and said, “I am delighted Jayant is now an Mumbai Indians. His experience and skills with both the bat and ball add to the MI squad tremendously and I am happy to have him join us within a few days after our successful auction.”
Before Jayant’s trade, South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock went through the transfer process. He was the first player who was traded from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) earlier.
The trading window remains open until 30 days to the start of the 2019 season. Yadav plays for Haryana in domestic cricket and recently represented India in the Emerging Teams Cup in Colombo.
