Another game, and another chase complete by the men in blue as they get the vital lead in the five-match ODI series. India were put under a spot of bother by the Aussie bowlers after they managed to scalp 4 wickets for just 99 runs, which included the wickets of Team India’s top 3 who have more often than not done the heavy lifting for their side by piling on the runs.
Adam Zampa and Nathan Coulter Nile’s 2 wicket a piece did give the indication that the wicket was on the slower side which made batting a tad difficult out there. But that’s when the calm and composed MS Dhoni and the gritty Kedar Jhadav got together and put the Australians back under pressure by taking the game deep.
At one stage it looked like the Australians are under control as they just needed a wicket, with the run rate going higher and higher, but Dhoni and Jhadav stayed put and kept striking the occasional boundaries every now and then to keep the total in sight. The end result was a brilliant 141 run stand with Jhadav leading from the front with a well made 81 of 87 deliveries, while MSD chipped in with the finishing touches and provided value added support with a crucial knock of 59 from 72, which is now in fact his fourth consecutive fifty against the kangaroos.
Kedar Jhadav’s all round effort with bat and ball rightfully awarded him with the player of the match award, as Team India look to solidify their claim in the next game which is to be played on March 5.
