India’s rising badminton star Lakshya Sen has won his first senior title at the Tata Open International Challenge in Mumbai by getting past junior World No.1 Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand 21-15, 21-10 in the Men’s Singles event.
With the win, the Indian junior champ has avenged his defeat against the same opponent at the World junior championship last month. The match, which was touted to be a humdinger ended in 35 minutes and did not see the Thai at his best.
The match started on an even keel and initial exchanges suggested that the match would go down to the wire but soon after the 2-minute break the Indian cut lose and won points at ease and thus the game at 21-15. The next game too did not see the Thai champion put any resistance and surrendered meekly with the scoreline at 21-10.
