Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler on Tuesday said that he feels Manchester United cannot defeat Manchester City in the upcoming Premier League duel based on their current outings.
The Red Devils host City on Wednesday, and will have plenty of rare support from Liverpool fans who need City to drop points in their remaining fixtures.
So, as a Reds legend, Fowler still hopes Man United can do something in the derby against Manchester City.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team’s performances in the last few matches degrading, it seems difficult to see Man United make a miracle even though they will play at Old Trafford. In the last match, the Red Devil was shaved by Everton four goals without reply.
Fowler said to Fotmob, “I think obviously everyone knows my allegiances are massively with Liverpool and I think if we’re being totally honest it’s going to be tough for them because you feel as though Manchester City can beat anyone on their day.”
The Old Trafford based side is chasing a Champions League qualification place and the team is currently three points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea ahead of their match against Manchester City.
“I think the way they’re (Manchester United) playing at the minute, you can’t see it happening, but stranger things have happened,” Fowler added.
Jurgen Klopp’s side face their upcoming matches against Huddersfield, Newcastle, and Wolves in the Premier League whereas Manchester City will face Burnley, Leicester, and Brighton after taking on United.
Apart from Premier League, Liverpool takes on Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final whereas Manchester City will compete in an FA Cup final against Watford.
