Manchester United midfielder, Nemanja Matic, said he was the biggest problem when his team lost 0-4 to Everton in the Premier League match at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Regarding the match, Matic admitted that he could have played better. "Many things didn't work for us. First of all, our approach," Matic said to BBC.
"I, who am the most experienced player in the team today, did not play well. We can’t blame the young lads. I was the biggest problem," he said.
The Serbian player said that in the Everton match his team failed to master the midfield, where Matic played.
"In this kind of match, you have to win the battle in the middle, so the team can play better football. We failed to do that," he said.
With Arsenal's surprise home defeat to Crystal Palace, United remain only two points away from the top four with four games remaining.
Man United will now face Manchester City at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Matic said the players have talked about how to improve performance.
"We had a small meeting. We will try to do better in the next few days," said Matic. "We have a big match against Manchester City, so we will see if we are ready," he added.
