Bangladesh One-Day International (ODI) captain Mashrafe Mortaza is likely to miss the 3-match ODI series against Windies, as his wife has been admitted to the hospital due to illness and the fast bowler is looking after her.
The 3-match ODI series will begin on 22nd July.
However, Bangladesh's selectors will wait until Friday, the day before the ODI specialists' departure from Dhaka, to name his replacement. In his absence, all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will replace him as the captain of the team.
''He is uncertain for the tour of West Indies,'' Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz. ''He had informed about the condition of his wife and we must consider it with utmost priority."
''Though we have not ruled him out," Abedin said, "there is a distinct possibility that he just might not make it to the Caribbean. We will take a decision in this regard on July 12 as the members of the ODI squad are expected to leave on the following day."
