Chennai Super Kings is all set to travel to the ‘Pink city’ Jaipur to square off against Rajasthan Royals, who are desperately looking for a win to gain some winning momentum, in the 25th game of the ongoing season of IPL.
This is the second time both these teams will be playing against each other. The team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the first encounter by 8 runs, all thanks to a mesmerizing knock by the skipper himself. He scored 75 off just 46 deliveries, hitting 4 boundaries and 4 towering sixes during his inning.
If we talk about this match, the franchise of Rajasthan has completely failed to take the home advantage in their previous games. The team was completely outclassed by the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium on April 7th.
The side led by Ajinkya Rahane has not been convincing this season as they are not been able to convert their starts into wins. They would have to produce an extraordinary performance to beat a team like CSK, who have won five out of their six games in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League.
On paper, Rajasthan looks like a really balanced side and they have all the fire-power in the armory. But what they have done in the tournament is exactly the opposite. Ajinkya Rahane, the skipper of the team, has not been able to contribute with the bat and has looked ‘flat’ in the captaincy role. Many experts of the game are questioning his decisions on the cricketing field.
England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has also been unable to produce a match-winning knock after the first game. Though he has performed better than most of the batsmen, still he would have to play a blistering knock today, if Rajasthan needs to put a big score on the board.
Despite having two of the best all-rounders, Ben Stokes & Jofra Archer, in the team, the side has failed to win the games.
The team will look to play more attacking cricket today and would need to score more runs in the powerplay if they have to mount some pressure on the defending champions.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings will be high on confidence as they come into this match with a thumping seven-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders.
The only problem they possessed was the opening pair but now that has been solved too. South African skipper Faf du Plessis has come into the side and played two match-winning knocks top of the order for his side. Du Plessis has managed to give stability to the batting line-up, which is all set to give nightmares to the Rajasthan bowling line-up.
Other batsmen would now have to chip in for the team if they want to win their sixth game of the season. The management would be hoping to get some goods knocks from the bats of Shane Watson and Suresh Raina. Though they don’t have many runs in their kitty, they have successfully managed to keep the scoreboard ticking with their little cameos.
It is yet to be seen if Dwayne Bravo has been cleared fit to play for today’s game. If he is fit to play, then Scott Kuggeleijn might sacrifice his place in the team. But Bravo’s inclusion in the side would make CSK ‘unbeatable’.
Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, and Imran Tahir are continuously impressing everyone with their super bowling skills. If Chahar picks up some wicket at the start of innings, Tahir and Bhajji bamboozle the oppositions with their spin in the middle overs.
