This is a very important match for both teams. Obviously, more for England because if they lose this match they will be out of the World Cup. Nobody would have believed that England will be in such a position before the World Cup. Everyone had included them in their semi-final lineup at this World Cup.
It has been surprising the way England has unravelled because probably they haven’t been able to handle the pressure. But England has the potential to shift momentum their way. Jason Roy will play today and it will provide some space to Jonny Bairstow. Joe Root and Eoin Morgan are also going to be very important.
They have a champion batting lineup. They can score in excess of 300 if they win the toss. It will be a fresh pitch in Edgbaston. It will be dry and good for batting. So, it should be a good batting deck.
On the other hand, India looks solid, steady and settled. Virat Kohli’s body language was confident, comfortable and cool at the press conference. He kept saying that they are only concerned about themselves. Vijay Shankar might get another opportunity.
All said and done, it’s going to be a cracker of a game. It’s very difficult to say who the favourite for this game is. Toss will be the key factor to decide the fate of both the teams. Whoever wins the toss, will be the favourite in this match.
