This is a very important match to be played at Durham. If England manages to win against New Zealand, they will reach the semis. If New Zealand wins, they will qualify and the doors will open up for Pakistan. If England loses and Pakistan defeats Bangladesh then Pakistan will reach the semis. Clearly, this is a very important match for England and for the careers of all their players.
Conventionally, Durham pitch is swing supportive. If Trent Boult and Matt Henry manage to bowl well with Jimmy Neesham and Colin De Grandhomme, then New Zealand definitely has a chance. New Zealand will look to turn things around after losing to Australia. So, it will be a cracker of a contest.
On the other hand, England should look at this match as a quarter-final. If they win this match, then they have a probability of going all the way. So, that is how the tournament is looking at this point in time.
I feel that England has that passion and courage along with their free-flowing attitude. New Zealand has a good bowling unit but Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor have to play well. It’s a too close contest to call but I will still pick England because they have their noses ahead after beating India and have the momentum.
