If India doesn’t win today, then it will be tough for them. So, India will win today but Bangladesh shouldn’t be taken lightly. If Bangladesh wins the toss and score 300, then it could be tough for India.
The last two matches I remember between these two nations are the Asia Cup final where Kedar Jadhav had helped India win in the last ball of the match. Rohit Sharma was the captain that day. Liton Das had scored a century that day.
Bangladesh is an unpredictable side. I also remember Dinesh Karthik helping India defeat Bangladesh in Sri Lanka, scoring 20 runs off 8 balls. Soumya Sarkar had bowled the last over and the last ball was struck for a six over cover and India had won.
I gave the example of these two matches because Bangladesh vs India has become a close contest over the last couple of years. Bangladesh always plays with extra motivation against India. They know if they beat both India and Pakistan then this World Cup campaign would be the most memorable one for them. Can they win both these matches? No.
India after losing to England will change their strategy. Dinesh Karthik will play in place of Kedar Jadhav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will play in place of a spinner. India is making changes because they know they somehow need a better batsman in number six or seven. Jadhav has not been able to do it.
All said and done, this should be a closely fought contest but India will win today and book their place in the semi-finals.
