The World Cup has definitely come to an end for South Africa after their defeat to Pakistan.
It’s been a sorry state of affairs for the Proteas this season, and one of the reasons for their demise has to be the AB de Villiers controversy.
No one would have expected South Africa to go down in the tournament without even showing a fight.
So, the South African players will now have to go home and take a long hard look at the mirror as they prepare for their upcoming challenges.
They have to go deep and introspect. On the other hand, Pakistan has given themselves a lifeline and Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy was top notch.
Haris Sohail’s performance with the bat was vital and Sarfaraz Ahmed termed is as a “Jos Butler” innings.
Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz bowled beautifully and it was too hot to handle for the South African batsmen.
Pakistan has still got an outside chance, and if they do qualify for the semifinals of the tournament then it will be nothing short of a miracle.
