Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the 15-member squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and one surprise exclusion from the team has come in the form of Mohammad Amir.
The left-arm pacer has been excluded due to his poor performance in white-ball cricket off-late.
Despite facing a lot of criticism for his captaincy in the recent past, the board has instilled their faith in Sarfaraz Ahmed to lead the side in the World Cup that will be played in England and Wales.
The batting department will be packed with players such as Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, and Fakhar Zaman, while Mohammed Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, and Haris Sohail will pitch in with their all-around abilities.
On the other hand, the bowling department boasts of pacers such as Shaheen Afridi, Junaid Khan, and Hasan Ali. Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan will be the premier spinners in the squad with Malik and Hafeez being the part-timers.
Surprisingly, Imad Wasim had failed the fitness test but chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said, ‘they have done a favour by selecting him in the squad.’
Sarfaraz Ahmed (C and wk), Abid Ali, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Sohail, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Imam-ul-Haq, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Husnain, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shoaib Malik.
