The 2019 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) came to an end with a scintillating final between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
It was an incredible match and if I have to analyse the game-changing moments of yesterday’s game, I would like to say two things. First, MS Dhoni’s dismissal. Chennai was cruising towards the victory when an amazing throw by Ishan Kishan completely changed the game. Second, the last over bowled by veteran Lasith Malinga.
You can imagine the pressure that must have been on his shoulders. He gave 40-odd runs in his previous three overs and even dropped an important catch of Watto in the ninth over of the game so you can understand what he would have been going through when the ball was handed over to him.
But he showed why experience can’t be taken away.
Malinga produces a gem of an over. His last delivery to Shardul Thakur sealed the deal for the Men in Blue as a slower Yorker got him out LBW.
In the end, I would just like to say that Mumbai deserved this victory. Whatever they have done this season, they deserve to get their hands on the trophy. Their fourth IPL trophy.
Congratulations to Rohit Sharma & Co!!!!
