The Round 2 in the 2018 Indian National Motorcycle Championship at Madras Motor Race Track saw a dominant run from Honda Ten10 Racing's Rajiv Sethu, who took victories in both the Super Sport 165cc category on Saturday and Sunday.
It was a two-horse battle among the two manufacturers TVS Racing and Honda. TVS took the winning honours in Round 1 and continued its fine run until qualifying when Jagan Kumar took pole on Saturday.
However, the race was a different story with Sethu winning the first battle when Jagan ran wide on the penultimate lap which helped Sethu to surge ahead. Sethu had been on Jagan's tail all-through the race which was earlier red-flagged for a huge incident.
Sparks Racing's Prashanth Kumar crashed out on the opening lap and was rushed to the hospital where he is in critical but a stable condition after suffering through multiple injuries to his hip and a dislocation of the pelvic bone in addition to a few broken ribs.
With Sethu winning, Jagan had to settle for second as Honda's Sarath Kumar completed the podium. Round 1's table topper TVS' KY Ahamed fell early on to finish sixth only. In Race 2on Sunday, it was again a fight between Sethu and Jagan.
However, Sethu prevailed again to take the lead of the championship as well with Jagan in second and Sarath again completing the rostrum positions. Meanwhile, in the Pro Stock 165cc category Honda's Anish Shetty won Race 1 from teammate Senthil Kumar.
The two were in a solid scarp for victory joined by Racr's Naresh Babu who completed the podium. But in Race 2 on Sunday, the roles reversed as Babu fought the two Hondas to take the victory from Shetty and Senthil.
The Pro Stock 301-400cc category's race was won by Gusto Racing's Amarnath Menon from teammate Sathyanarayan Raju and Team Alisha Abdullah's Prabhu Arunagiri, with the Girls Novice 165cc category won by A.S. Ann Jennifer from Alisha Abdullah and Sruthi Nagarajan.
In the one-makes, the Honda Talent Cup CBR250cc class saw Shetty with a double win in the two races as Abhishek V and Amit Toppo filling up the podium spots - Abhishek was second in Race 1 and third in Race 2, with Toppo third in Race 1 and second in Race 2.
Meanwhile, the CBR150cc Novice category under Honda - for its first round - saw Muhamed Mukail dominate both the races. In the TVS Racing's Open Apache R310cc category saw Menon win Race 1 with Deepak Ravikumar on the top spot in Race 2.
The Novice Apache 200cc category races was won by Kartik Mateti as the lone Girls Novice Apache 200cc category saw Ryhana Bee winning from Ann Jennifer and Priyanka Kochar.
