2018 has been a great year for Indian Table Tennis with players such as Manika Batra, Sharath Kamal Achanta, Sathiyan G scaling new heights. Not only did they achieve career-best rankings but also managed to take home coveted titles, medals.
All this has been possible with their perseverance and hard work at the grass root levels. And this time the best in the country will face off each other at the 80th Senior National Table Tennis Championships from 4th December to 9th December at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha.
The mega event Table Tennis event will see Achanta Sharath vouch for his 9th title whereas Golden girl of Table Tennis Manika will be eying her 2nd national title. A total of 550 players from all over the country including Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and National championship medal winners will participate in the championship.
The state of Odisha is going to host the national event after a gap of 12 years. Odisha is slowly turning out to be a nursery of Indian sports after successfully hosting major international events such as the 14th Men’s Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar’s iconic Kalinga Stadium. The same stadium was witness to the Asian Athletics Championship in 2017 and Under-18 Girls’ Asian Rugby Sevens’ Championship in October 2018.
A total of 550 players from all over the country including Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and National championship medal winners will participate in the championship.
