They did it! Manchester City succeeded to reach 100 points in one season and created history. With their victory this weekend during the last match of the season against Southampton on the smallest of the scores 0-1 (90+4” Gabriel Jesus), Manchester City succeeded to do which no one team did in any Premier League since its creation. Pep Guardiola had to wait until the last minute of the match to see the record taken down.
This is the Brazilian player Gabriel Jesus, successor of F. Delph in the 59th minute of the game, who scored the record goal of the season after a beautiful pass of K. De Bruyne. From the camp of Manchester City, the Belgium triggered a pass which flew over the field to arrive in the feet of Gabriel Jesus. The striker made a lob and the ball finished in the goal of Southampton’s goalkeeper allowing liberation for all Manchester City’s players and staff, awarding the awesome season they did.
Everything was not easy for Pep Guardiola since his arrival in the club. His first season was below the expectations as the manager of the club with a 3rd position at the end of the season and also a defeat in the round of sixteen in the Champions League by AS Monaco.
This season is one of the best season of Pep Guardiola since his beginning as coach. He never reached this number of point in one season even with the FC Barcelona whereas he was dominated the Spanish championship during his 4 years in Spain. He did not realize this record with Bayern Munich (it is harder because there are only 34 days of football).
There is also a new record realized by Manchester City: the points gap record for a champion with 19 clearances on the second, Manchester United.
Anyway, this season will stay in the history of the Premier League by the play realized by Manchester City’s players, by the number of points, but even by the amazing coaching of Pep Guardiola.
