With New Zealand winning the one off T20I against Sri Lanka, the Black Caps have now ended their campaign on a high by not letting the Lankans register a single win in any of the three formats while ensuring authority on the cricket field.
While batting first New Zealand compiled a total 179 for the loss of 7 wickets with Doug Bracewell leading the pack with a quick fire 44 runs to his tally of just the 26 deliveries with 1 boundary and a staggering amount of 5 sixes under his belt.
Sri Lanka got restricted to a 144, with Thisara Perea continuing his good run with the bat as he smashed 43 from 24 deliveries with 2 boundaries and 3 sixes to his name, as his efforts fell in vain for the third successive time.
New Zealand’s T20I captain – Tim Southee was proud of his side’s professional display and even praised his players by calling out their names in the process, as their next challenge against a quality Indian team awaits.
“In the position we were after the first 10 overs and then get some runs and bowl the way we did was fantastic. It's great to get a win. Lockie had a great summer so far and Mitch had a great summer last year unfortunately got injured and happy to see him comeback and do well,”
“ Easy group of guys and the guys (Scott Kuggeleijn and Doug Bracewell) who haven't played a lot for New Zealand in the recent times to come up the way they did and perform well. It's really nice to see that. Thanks Sri Lanka for all the entertainment and although they haven't won a game, they've played some fantastic cricket” Southee said.
