On Tuesday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the list of 33 centrally-contracted players for 2018-19, which doesn't include Ahmed Shehzad, among others.
The announcement also saw the addition of one more category in the contract list.
The new category E has been brought in “to recognise performers on the domestic circuit as well as to encourage the continuing development of emerging cricketers from the junior cricket level”, said the board in a release.
Three players, named, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan have been upgraded to category B, while Imam-ul-Haq, promoted to category C.
On the other hand, players like Mohammad Hafeez, Rahat Ali and Imad Wasim slipped from category A to B.
Meanwhile, opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad is among the players who missed out in the contract list.
The new contracts come with a significant pay hike for the players. "PCB has raised the monthly remuneration for each of its categories ranging between 25-30%, and has also increased its players match fees by 20% across categories," said the release.
