Javelin thrower Sundar Singh Gurjar settled for silver in the men's F46 category while Rinku bagged bronze in the same event of the ongoing Para Asian Games 2018 on Thursday. However, two-time Paralympic gold medallist Devendra Jhajharia's performance was a let down and he couldn't live upto the expectations. As a result, he missed a podium finish and settled for the fourth spot.
On his fifth attempt, Gurjar claimed silver with an effort of 61.33 metre. On the other hand, Rinku recorded a personal best of 60.92 metre to for the bronze medal. Meanwhile, gold went to Sri Lanka's Dinesh Herath who broke the Asian record after a throw of 61.84 metre in his sole attempt. The F46 category includes athletes with upper limb deficiency, impaired muscle power or impaired range of movement.
Avnil Kumar, on the other hand, clocked 52 seconds to bag a bronze in the men's 400 metre T13 category. This category covers visual impairment. The yellow metal went to Iran's Omid Zarifsanayei. Thailand's Songwut Lamsan settled for silver.
