In Match 43 of ongoing Pro Kabaddi League 2018, Patna Pirates defeated Bengal Warriors in the last game of their home leg. Prior to this clash, Patna had lost two encounters on trot but came back to register an important victory. After this clash, Patna lead Bengal 8-2 (barring the three ties) in head-to-head tally.
Bengal won the toss and selected the court of their choice. Jang Lee opened the account for his side, Bengal, and visitors kept the lead for the initial moments. They led 4-0 before Tushar Patil (who replaced Ravinder Kumar) scored the first point for Patna. From thereon, hosts got the momentum and levelled the scores at 5-5 before eventually leading at the break (15-12).
The second half was an intense affair. With quite a few empty or unsuccessful raids, Patna never managed to consolidate. Nonetheless, Bengal also failed to come at par with Patna and kept trailing behind (albiet with not much distance) to finish on the wrong side of the result (29-27). Patna's star performers were Deepak Narwal (7 raid points) and Jaideep's 5 tackle points. From Bengal, Ran Singh (7 raid points) and Amit Kumar's 3 tackle points were good but not enough to prevent the hosts from ending their home leg successfully.
Post this result, Patna lead Zone B followed by Bengaluru Bulls. Meanwhile, Bengal are placed sixth in the same group.
