In the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2018, Gujarat Fortune grants faced Dabang Delhi K.C. In Match 73 of the competition, at The Arena by Transstadia, Ahmedabad, hosts Gujarat couldn't continue their roaring form and lost to Delhi by a 29-26 scoreline in Zone A.
Winning the toss, Delhi chose the court of their choice. It wasn't wrong to claim that Gujarat were favorites and started proceedings being unbeaten at home. They got the initial lead before the scores were tied at several junctures of the first half; 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 8-8. After a lot of drama, hosts went into the break with a slender lead of 13-11.
Gujarat was ahead in the second half as well. At 20-18, things were looking good for them. Defenders from both sides gave a neck-to-neck fight. However, Meraj Sheykh's super raid got Delhi ahead. From thereon, the momentum changed and suddenly it was Gujarat who played the catch-up game.
It was further leveled at 26-26. Sachin's empty and unsuccessful raids, as opposed to Delhi's Naveen Kumar's raid point, closed the deal in favor of the visitors. In one of the rare occasions, Gujarat succumbed to the pressure and have failed to carry the unbeaten tag at home.
From Delhi, Meraj's 6 raid points combined with Ravinder Pahal's 4 tackle points were crucial for their side's victory.
