Continuing his rich vein of form in the year 2019, India’s ace tennis player Prajnesh Gunneswaran notched up his career-best ranking of 80 in the Men's singles, as per the latest rankings released by ATP on Monday.
The Indian had broken in to the top 100 in February 2019 and this week continued the upward trend and rose 2 places this week from 82 to 80.
Prajnesh has been impressive in the past couple of months and made genuine strides, which has helped him reach this position. He reached the third round of Indian Wells 2019 in his maiden appearance at the ATP Masters event. It also happened to be his first appearance in the third round of an ATP 1000 Tournament.
Post that he also made it to the main round of the Miami Open where he was ousted from the first round.
Ramkumar Ramanathan, was the other Indian who featured in the list and dropped 16 spots to slip out of the top 150. He now stands at the 157th position.
The top 3 positions remained unchanged with Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev ruling the charts in the same order.
In the Women’s singles, Ankita Raina remained the highest ranked Indian, as she climbed 23 spots to reach 180th position in the WTA rankings, on the back of her final appearance at the ITF Turkey Open.
